Dr Louis Roos :
Schizophrenia is a serious mental disorder in which people interpret reality abnormally. People affected may experience a combination of hallucinations, delusions, and extremely disordered thinking and behaviour that impairs daily functioning and can be disabling. People with schizophrenia require treatment that involves a combination of medications, psychotherapy and coordinated speciality care services.
Insomnia is a disorder that describes Persistent problems falling and staying asleep. Most cases of insomnia are related to poor sleeping habits, depression, anxiety, chronic illness or certain medications. Symptoms may include difficulty falling or staying asleep and not feeling well-rested. Treatment for insomnia consists of improving sleep habits, behaviour therapy and identifying and treating underlying causes.
With a specific interest in the potential neuropsychiatric applications and consequences of Cannabinoids, Dr Roos has presented talks discussing the aspects of how this affects the nervous system.
