Introduction:
Dr Robyn van Schoor stayed in the public sector in 2015 at Steve Biko Academic Hospital for a year as a consultant after specialising in psychiatry. At this stage, she focussed on the interface between psychiatry and HIV medicine. Since 2016 she has been in private practice and is passionate about assisting people with a wide range of general psychiatric complaints.
Short summary:
She has worked at Denmar Psychiatric Hospital from January 2016 until February 2020. She has also worked at Akeso Arcadia Hospital from January 2018 until December 2019 where she had the opportunity to manage people with substance abuse disorders in a dual diagnosis program.
Qualifications:
- MBCHB (UP) Bachelor of medicine and surgery from the University of Pretoria
- DMH (SA) Diploma in Mental Health from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa
- MMedPsych (UP) Masters of Medicine in Psychiatry from the University of Pretoria
- FCPsych (SA) Fellow of the Colleges of Psychiatry of South Africa

Adult Psychiatry
Several mental health disorders affect adults due to different risk factors. Dr Robyn assists and treats many adult patients who are affected by symptoms of a wide variety of psychiatric disorders such as depression, anxiety and dual diagnosis.

Adolescent Psychiatry
Teenagers are not exempt from the diagnosis of mental health disorders. In addition to her expertise in adult psychiatry, Dr Robyn treats adolescent patients and assists them with the management of mental health disorders.

Post-Partum Psychiatry
Many women experience psychiatric difficulties during pregnancy. Dr Robyn assists patients through the management and treatment of these difficulties during pregnancy as well as the post-partum period. Dr Robyn expands this interest into the psychiatric consequences of infertility and fertility treatments.
